Pushchair Parasols.......a Great Alternative

I'm not a big fan of parasols, having used them in the past with all 3 of my children I found them to be fiddly and really quite frustrating. First you have to find a bar that isn't too low or isn't too high to attach the parasol to, you then have to make sure you've tightened it enough that it doesn't fall off but not overtighten so that you can't adjust it. Once you have it all set up, you're ready for the off.....and then you notice that baby's toes aren't covered so you move it up slightly and then the top of the head is exposed so you end up hanging a little blanket off the parasol. Perfect, all in we go.

You turn the first corner and instead of the sun being in front of you, it's now to the side and all the adjustments start again.......

Last year I bought a Shade Maker Canopy from Sunshine kids. It's suitable to use on most buggies and pushchairs with or without an existing shade. I found it a little fiddly to attach at first but once I had it straight and tight enough it was easy enough to take off and put on again without too much adjusting. It has velcro straps and plenty of ties making it suitable for pushchairs with frames of different shapes and sizes.

What I likes about the shade is that it's quite long so if the sun is quite low it can be pulled down quite a way to give your baby or toddler as much coverage as possible, and when it's no longer needed it can be pushed up out of the way. It folds up easily too and easily fitted into the slim pocket on the back of our compact buggy. Or depending on how your buggy folds it can be left in place.

The shade has a large pocket at either side which is great for keeping wipes, nappies, a drink, keys, so it's great if you are nipping out as you wouldn't need to take an extra bag.

I have had a few customers say that the shade doesn't fit onto their buggy. There are so many different makes and styles out there that I wouldn't expect it to fit all but if your buggy is a pretty standard shape and size then I would say that the shade would probably fit.

With all this lovely Spring weather Sun Shades of all varieties have been in big demand, in particular the Shade Maker Canopy.

You can buy it at Munchkins and Poppets along with other shades, including a Koo-di Pack It sleep & snooze shade, ideal to keep your little one protected from the sun whilst they sleep.
